Spike is trying a different strategy for downloadable content distribution. The publisher is giving away the first Way of the Samurai 4 customization pack for free, but only for a limited time.
The Shinesengumi set has costumes based off members in the historical shogunate police force. You can get original weapons and outfits to style your samurai as Isami Kondo and Toshizo Hijikata. Spike will release the Shinsengumi on March 24 and it will be free to download until April 27. The customization pack will cost 500 yen ($6) afterwards.
Players will need to apply a patch before using any downloadable content, which Spike plans soon.
